happy {stickle-y} birthday

Hi, everyone! Happy Saturday!

Hope the weather's not too bad in your neck of the woods. We were supposed to get some freezing rain today, but seem to have escaped... at least until Monday.

I'm here today with a card inspired by the Shopping Our Stash Stickle Me Elmo and the Simon Says Winter Birthday Challenges.

Strathmore watercolor paper; Stampin' Up vellum
Simon Says Stamp snowflake and scribble flower images
Winnie & Walter big, bold, happy sentiment
background inks: tumbled glass, broken china, faded jeans, chipped sapphire blue, milled lavender
snowflake inks: spun sugar, picked raspberry,
heat embossing with Versamark and Stampendous silver embossing powder
silver Stickles
adhesives: Scotch ATG; foam backing; Miracle Tape, strategically placed behind sentiment words

Close up of snowflakes' Stickle

  • A recent Kristina Werner video was my starting point for the big circles.
  • I then stamped the snowflakes, going with a pinkish/purplish color for a little contrast.
  • Silver Stickles were added later to add a little glisten to these snowflakes.
  • Next, I filled in the card base smaller blue snowflakes and circles.
  • Finally, heat embossing with a silver powder was used to create the sentiment strip and add a shimmery border.

Something tells me that my  sparkle-y friend with a late January birthday is going to love this card.  :)

Parting Thoughts

A brand new challenge posted over at Words 2 Craft By on Wednesday. There are two gift certificates to Simon Says Stamp. So, we hope you'll join us for this month's challenge.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Thanks for stopping and happy scrappin'!

  2. Hello Sybrina: I've seen Christina's video and loved it, your did a wonderful job with this card, overlapping the circles makes it look 3D.
Love the pop of red on your stickle covered snowflakes and the way you added the sentiment with vellum so your beautiful design wouldn't be covered.
Thank you for sharing your card with us at SHOPPING OUR STASH!

  6. Hi Sybrina! I just love how you did the circles background! They're so beautifully lay out. And great job with embossed sentiment on the vellum! I find it very challenging getting a clean stamp and getting the vellum perfectly flat. I'm so glad one of us entering the SSS Winter's birthday challenge. I was over their blog and kept asking myself, can it just be a birthday card for a winter birthday child? Or does it has to have "winter" designs. LOL. I wanted to enter my kiddos' birthday cards, but no winter anywhere on them. LOL. Have a lovely evening. Hugs.
